Hatta Michael'ın ünlü Motown 25 performansı sonrası Fred Astaire'in Michael Jackson'ı bizzat arayıp tebrik ettiği bilinir.
Michael Jackson'ın danslarında James Brown ve Fred Astaire en öne çıkan etkileşimler zaten. :)

Örneğin ayağını başparmağı ucunda tutup topuğunu salladığı klâsik MJJ hareketi, aslında Astaire'in step dansında yaptığı bir hareketin yarıda kesilip looplanmış (tekrar edilmiş) hali. Klâsik step manevralarından çoğunu kendi tarzıyla kullanır hep.
